CP Exam 3: RLD Flashcards
What are ventilation clinical findings of IPF?
- breathing pattern- decrease LC expansion and upper chest wall mvmt, increased accessory muscle use
- cough- dry and non productive
What are gas exchange clinical findings for IPF?
- auscultation- dry crackles, diminished breath sounds
2. hypoxia- cyanosis, clubbing, pulm HTN
What are other clinical findings with IPF?
- impaired AC
2. impaired strength/posture
What is PT intervention for IPF?
aerobic activity with supp O2, strength, pt education, pulm rehab
What are clinical symptoms of pneumothorax?
SOB/DOE, sharp pain, deviated trachea, absent/diminished breath sounds, increased RR, tachycardia
What are clinical findings with pleural effusion?
- pain
2. short inspiratory phase of breathing, decreased or absent breath sounds, possible pleural friction
What are PT interventions for pleural effusion?
teach them how to splinted cough or deep breathing over incision
What are clinical findings for pulmonary edema?
- auscultation- fine crackles at base of lungs
- orthopnea
- DOE/SOB
- increased RR, pallor diaphoretic
What are clinical findings for atelectasis?
- auscultation- crackles/wheezes, diminished or absent breath sound
- fever
- DOE/SOB, increased RR decreased Vt
What are PT interventions?
MOBILITY, PEP devices blowing bubbles for secondary Atelect.
What are ventilation clinical findings in pneumonia?
increased RR, increased WOB, decreased expansion of lung in area of PNA
What are gas exchange clinical findings?
- auscultation- crackles, wheezes, absent or diminished
- hypoxia.
- frequent productive cough
