do not have a sense of belonging
feel alienated
find it difficult to identify with
why might ethnic minorities feel like outsiders?

what are gated communities?
enclosed housing estates where access is strictly controlled - only residents can get in or out
for the affluent
common in America, most UK gated communities are located in London (especially the docklands)
what is a near place?
-a place that is close geographically
-equally, it could refer to a person’s emotional connection with a place and how comfortable they feel there
