Who is the brig officer?
Officer or senior enlisted responsible for day-to-day operation of MCF.
Level II/III-XO is the brig officer
Operations Officer?
Responsible for MCF security, control, key and weapons accountability, emergency planning and response, maintenance of equipment, perimeter patrol and supervision of group activities.
What is the CDO or DBS (Duty Brig Supervisor) responsible for?
supervising the security force, maintain good order and discipline, carrying out the POD, ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of staff members and prisoners. After hours, holidays, or weekends, they are in charge of MCF operations.
What does the brig log contain and who maintains it?
Maintained by the Control Center Supervisor.
Contains: Prisoner counts, confinement/release of prisoners,
departure/return,
change of watch,
emergency drills,
Disorders/actions taken,
Inspections,
official visits/purpose
Max custody
Prisoners with high probability of escape or are potentially violent or dangerous. And who escape would cause concern of a threat to life, property, or national security.
15min checks, 2 or more staff members when out of cell, no work outside of cell, must wear full restraints when outside of housing area.
Medium Custody IN
Presents security risks not warranting MAX.
No work outside the security perimeter. Assigned to gen pop.
Not wear restraints inside sec. perimeter but wear hand irons and transport belts outside.
Have two escorts at all times.
Medium Custody Out
Presents security risk not warranting MDI. Direct supervision within the sec. perimeter, and immediate and continuous when outside the sec. perimeter.
May work inside and outside sec. perimeter.
Not required to wear restraints while inside or outside the sec. perimeter.
NEC to operate the brig on the ship? And temporary assignment?

Receiving and Release (R&R) Supervisor
responsible for processing prisoner intakes and releases, relevant records and supplies (including health and comfort items), prisoner personal property, clothing issue, and storage.
Master control Supervisor
responsible for maintaining the prisoner accountability and security system
Mission of an afloat brig
Support good order and discipline, correct disruptive behavior and, when possible, restore confined personnel to constructive duty.
b. Provide for ·safe and secure confinement of personnel subject to the UCMJ who are pending trial .or serving confinement due to disciplinary action, Pretrial confinement onboard a ship.
