Correcting Vision Flashcards
How do you correct short sightedness (far point closer than infinity)?
With a diverging lens that diverges light before it enters the eye meaning the lens can focus on the retina
What caused short sightedness?
The eyeball being too long, or by the cornea and lens system bring to powerful so the image can’t focus on retina like it’s meant to do they focus in front of retina instead
How do you correct longsightedness (near point further than 25cm)
Using a converging lens. The light is refracted and converges before it enters the eye so the image can be focused on the retina
What causes longsightedness?
Cornea and lens are too weak
Eyeball is too short
How does laser eye surgery correct eye problems?
Use to vaporise some of the cornea and change its shape which changes focusing ability
This can increase or decrease power of the cornea to help the eye focus images on the retina properly
