S suicide

What is the purpose of a coroner
A coroner is equivalent to a district court judge and have jurisdiction under the act.
The purpose is to help prevent avoidable deaths and ensure an investigation into the causes and circumstances of death is carried out.

To make recommendations or comment for public consumption to prevent an incident reoccurring in circumstances similar
3rd purpose
Determine whether it’s in the public interest to recommend further enquiry by an investigating authority.
When must an inquest be held
Following deaths
- self inflicted- suicide
- any death that occurs in officak custody or care
- any death in which the coroner is not satisfied that the cause or circumstances of death have not been clearly established.
