A

A coroner is equivalent to a district court judge and have jurisdiction under the act.

The purpose is to help prevent avoidable deaths and ensure an investigation into the causes and circumstances of death is carried out.

Purpose of a colonial enquiry

First purpose

What is a post mortem and who is it authorized by

A

A post mortem is an examination of a persons body to determine the cause of death, its is performed by a pathologist and authorized by the coroner. The corner also has authority over who is present during the post mortem.
Police maybe in attendance if required for evidential purposes.

Under take appropriate first aid
CARRY PUT AN INITIAL SCENE EXAMINATION 
verify death has occurred 
OBTAIN A MEDICAL CERTIFICATE AS TO CAUSE OF DEATH
formally identify the deceased
Remove the deceased to the mortuary
