Coronary & Pulmonary circulation Flashcards
Occultation Principle
Aortic semilunar valve - 2nd intercostal space at right sternal margin
Pulmonary Semilunar valve - 2nd intercostal space at left sternal margin
Tricuspid valve - right sternal margin of 5th intercostal space
Mitral valve - heart apex, in 5th intercostal space in line with middle of clavicle
Lub dub sound
lub = mitral and tricuspid valve closing dub = aortic and pulmonary valve closing
ECG
P = atrial systole QRS = Electric excitation of ventricle T = ventricular diastole
Ventricular Septal Defect
Hole in ventricular
different from fossa ovalis which is a hole in atrial wall
Transposition of the Great Vessels
Aorta and Pulmonary trunk orientation wrong
Coarctation of the aorta
aorta is constricted
Pulmonary valve stenosis
may also get calcification of wall
Teratology of Fallot
Multiple defects including:
pulmonary valve stenosis, ventricular septal defect, aorta open from both ventricles
Semilunar valve connected to ____ to prevent reflux
Chordae tendinae
Fibrous skeleton
support valves
draw oblique line through heart
electrically inert
Conduction system in heart
SA node in RA to LA by gap junctions
SA node to AV and then AV bundle to apex
Other name for AV bundle
Bundle of his
Ventricles contract from
Bottom-up
Atherosclerosis
closure of coronary arteries
Right coronary artery
run between RA and RV (coronary sulcus)
branch to Marginal artery
Left coronary artery
behind pulmonary trunk
branches to:
Circumflex - back around the heart
Anterior interventricular artery - between two ventricles
Anastomose
two blood vessels come together
Site of anastomosis
right and left arteries
posterior and anterior interventricular arteries
Anastamosis of anterior and posterior interventricular arteries innervate
AV bundle
Coronary artery origins
the 3 semilunar cusps for aorta have sinuses
Coronary Veins
Great cardiac vein
middle cardiac vein
small cardiac vein
anterior cardiac veins
Great cardiac vein runs with
anterior interventricular artery
drains LV
Middle cardiac vein runs with
Posterior interventricular artery
small cardiac vein runs with
marginal artery
All veins except anterior cardiac veins drain into ___
coronary sinus
Anterior cardiac veins
Drain RV
Directly into RA
Arch of aorta branches to
Brachiocephalic artery
Left common carotid artery
Left subclavian artery
Brachiocephalic artery branches to
right common carotid artery
left cubclavian artery
