What is the purpose of the CQC’s 13 fundamental standards of care?
They state the requirements for an organisations facilities, leadership and staff competencies to enable the provision of person centred care.

What is the purpose of the Care Act 2014?
It outlines how adult social care should be provided and aims to safeguard service users and their care providers.
This is done through the provision of adequate services, establishing a safeguarding adults board and providing education and support.
What is the purpose of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006?
Ensures the safety of vulnerable groups of people via DBS checks and the need for pre-employment information, like a reference.
What is the purpose of the Mental Capacity Act 2005?
To determine if an individual has the capacity to make sound decision, at a certain moment in time.
What is the purpose of the Mental Health Act 2007?
To protect people with ill mental health.
What is the purpose of the Equality Act 2010?
To allow for the equal treatment of all by prohibiting discrimination.
What is the purpose of the Human Rights Act 1998?
To enforce fundamental rights and freedoms for all.
Like the right to life, freedom from torture, inhumane or degrading treatment and protection from discrimination.
What is the purpose of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021?
To support victims by not making them go to court and see their abuser and by providing temporary housing.
It also recognises children as victims when they see or hear abuse.
What are SICP’s?
‘Standard infection control procedures’ are basic prevention and control measures to reduce the risk of infection.
This includes cleaning regimes, restocking, correct use of PPE and isolation.
