What steps should be followed if there is a spillage of bodily fluids?

A

• Wear the appropriate level of PPE (gloves & apron minimum)
• Follow the decontamination policy
• Wipe with a disposable paper towel
• Disinfect thoroughly
• Clean the surrounding area and surfaces with hospital grade disinfectant, incase of splatters
• Place a wet floor sign

In some cases, a spillage kit is needed which contains an absorbent disposable material that turns liquid in a solid.
