Do copyright licences have to be explicitly granted?
No, they can be implied. They don’t have to form a binding contract. An implied licence is called a bare licence.
How do you revoke a bare licence?
It can maybe be revoked at will, whereas a contractual licence can only be revoked in accordance with the contract terms.
How are exclusive licences created?
They must be in writing and signed by or on behalf of the owner of the right. (s92 CDPA)

A contractual licence can only be revoked in accordance with the contract terms. A bare licence is potentially revokable at will.
What’s the benefit of a contractual licence?
Where a licensee breaches the licence, he’ll e in breach of both copyright and contract.
What rights does an exclusive licensee have?
S101 CDPA- same rights as if the licence had been assigned to him.
