chronic obstructive pulmonary disease due to inhalation of toxins
what does copd cause?
progressive disease- through irreversible airway obstruction
what is the main cause of copd?
smoking
what are the main symptoms of copd?
breathlessness
wheeze
chronic cough and sputum production
frequent infections
how does copd affects airways ?
causes inflammation and thick mucus build up- air sacs loser structure and cant fill/empty as well
what are the differences between copd and ashtma?
copd- chronic cough, mostly caused by smoking, persistent/progressive breathlessness, symptoms under 35 uncommon
asthma- often young people, chronic cough uncommon, night time breathlessness/wheezing
what is the treatment for copd?
smoking cessation
pulmonary rehabilitation-therapy
frequent vaccinations

salbutamol- dry mouth, irritation
