Participants filled out a questionnaire to find out their video game experience and the children were put into partners where they played either a violent video game, Pac-man or a maze game. They played for 8 minutes and then taken to a toy room where they could choose between aggressive and non-aggressive toys. Then, they did a buzzer test to measure interpersonal aggression.
CM - Results
Girls playing aggressive video games were more likely to choose the aggressive toy but boys were not affected.
CM - Conclusion
The study showed some evidence of play imitating observed behaviours from the game.
CM - Criticisms
Conducted in an artificial environment, sample is age and culturally biased, extraneous variables like video game experience.
