Solid dosage forms e.g. capsules and tablets
A
- Grind or crush the solid dose formulation before adding to CD denaturing kit to ensure whole tablets or capsules are not retrievable
- If a CD denaturing kit is not available= crush or grind solid dose formulations and place into a small amount of warm soapy water stirring sufficiently to ensure its fully dissolved or dispersed

Liquid dosage forms
A
- Pour into an appropriately sized denaturing kit
- If a CD denaturing kit is not available then pour the liquid onto an appropriate amount of suitable product* and add this to an appropriate waste disposal bin
- Bottles should be rinsed and the liquid disposed using the denaturing kit then as the correct cateogry of pharmaceutical waste
- You should only pour it down the drain if you have a relevant trade effluent consent from the relevant sewerage undertaker

LIQUID AMPS
A
- Open up amp and empty the contents into a CD denaturing kit or dispose of in the same manner as liquid dosage forms
- Dispose of amp as sharps pharmaceutical waste

POWDER AMPS
A
- Open up amp and add water to dissolve the powder inside
- resulting mixture can be poured into the CD denaturing kit
- dispose of amp as sharps

A
- Remove backing
- Fold patch over on itself
- Place into waste disposal bin or CD denaturing kit

Aerosol formulations
A
-Expel into water
- Dispose of the resulting liquid using the denaturing kit then as the correct cateogry of pharmaceutical waste
OR
-IF safe, consider opening the container to safely release the CD, then the resulting mixture can be poured into a CD denaturing kit and disposed of as pharmaceutical waste
