2. Counterbalancing – repeated measures design. Half sample does Condition A then B, other half does B then A, to ensure order effects are balanced
3. Randomisation – materials used, presented in a random order to prevent order effects
4. Standardisation – Procedures and instructions are kept same for all p’s
