What is a fixed ratio schedule of R+?
R+ is delivered after a fixed number of responses has occured. (Ex. work 14 days=paycheck)
What pattern of responding will a fixed ratio schedule produce?
High rates with a post R+ ‘pause’ also called “all or nothing”
What is a variable ratio schedule of R+?
R+ is deliver after a fixed number of responses have occured but the # of responses changes for each trial. (Ex. say cookie 5 times=cookie, next trial say cookie 10 times=cookie, etc)
What pattern of responding will a variable ratio schedule produce?
consistent and steady VERY high rates
What is a fixed interval schedule of R+?
R+ is delivered at the end of a certain interval (Ex. A cookie is given every 5 minutes no matter how many times you ask)
What pattern of responding will a fixed interval schedule produce?
low to moderate rates; “Scallop”
What is a variable schedule of R+?
R+ is delivered at the end of a certain interval that might change during subsequent trials (Ex. break will be given 1 pm, 3pm, 4pm, 7pm)
What pattern of responding will a variable interval schedule produce?
consistent and stable; low to moderate rates
