Cultural Assmiliation (acculturation)
change of cultural patterns to those of the host society.
Structural Assimilation
large scale entrance to cliques, social clubs etc. This is the key to total assimilation.
Marital Assimilation (Amalgamation)
large scale intermarriage. A group can marry and interbreed fully and legally with the host society. There is social acceptance of the union.
Identifictional Assimilation
development of a sense of peoplehood based exclusively on the host society. A group adopts the social identity of the host society.
Attitude Receptional Assimilation
absence of prejudice. A group will face no prejudices on the past of host society. Racial or ethnic epithets will no longer hve any kind of significance.
Behavior receptional assimilation
absence of discrimination. A group will be treated fairly and equally in the society in which they exist. Seeing a member of your group (social relationships) other than white/Asian, Hispanic, Irish etc..
Civic Assimilation
absence of value and power conflict. You don’t see any kind of power conflict, sharing power without problems (ex: trust)
