Containment System Flashcards
What are the 3 functions of the containment system?
- limit release of radioactive fission products to environment during an accident
- provide biological shielding for personnel during normal and accident conditions
- provide a means of testing the leak-tightness of the containment vessel and penetrations
Function of the containment structure
low leakage divider barrier
refueling canal drains
allows spray water to drain back to the recirc sump if CTS actuted and minimizes the amount of steam bypassing the ice condenser
containment recirculation sump
- provides flow and NPSH for the RHR and CTS pumps to work in recirc mode
- during recirc phase water can also be sent to CCP and SI’s for long term cooling
purpose and operation of the containment airlock door mechanical interlock
how is the weld channel pressurization system placed in to service
- verify control air in service
- verify close CA to weld channel air receivers
- lineup sheet 1
- open CA to weld channel air receivers
- valve in air to electric penetrations
- verify penetrations pressurized locally or by annunciator clearing
Phase A signals

how do you ensure containment operability for a specified penetration
how do you ensure refueling integrity
perform the lineup sheet “refueling integrity”
