Containment Chillwater Flashcards
Describe how the Duplex Strainers operate to protect the CHW system function of heat removal
Remove debris from the chill water side of the system.
List the normal power supplies for the :
U-1 System.
U-2 System.
U-1 System. Livingston road 12kv
U-2 System. Transformer 10
List the actions taken in the case of a loss of normal power supply to one unit.
Check normal supply breaker closed
If closed, Then cross-tie electrical buses as follows:
Open Supply Breaker then Close both cross-tie breakers
If normal supply breaker is open then go to open loop.
Determine who must be contacted to establish feed and bleed times for the Containment Chilled Water system.
Chemistry and environmental
Describe why coordination between the field operators and the control room is especially important when transferring the Containment Chilled Water system from open loop to closed loop.
Because you will stop the flow of chill water to containment for a brief time they will have to monitor containment temperature and pressure
Discuss the preferred flowpath for operating the Containment Chilled Water System when in open loop.
Through the lycos separator.
Describe what the response of the Containment Chilled Water system would be when Disable is selected on the HMI flow diagram screen.
The chillers will shutdown.
Describe where the chill water must be disposed of when filling and venting the lower vent units after chemicals have been added to the system.
The laundry and hot shower tanks
Given a set of conditions determine if the Containment Chilled water Chiller should be manually loaded using the CH 530 local control system.
When Lake temperature is less then 55*F and removing the plate heat exchanger from service manually control chiller outlet temperature to prevent large swings and the chiller possibly locking out for 60 minutes.
Describe how the Lakos separator operates to protect the CHW system function of heat removal.
The Lakos separators work by internally creating a cyclone effect that causes solids and particulates to accelerate to the outside of the separator to be collected and purged out through a continuous drain.
This is on the NESW side of the system.
