Non-Valid Complaint: As a consumer, you do not have rights if: 1. You change your mind about the item you bought. 2. If the item gets damaged because of something you did. 3. If you knew the good was faulty before you purchased it but you chose to buy it anyway

What are the steps to solving a consumer complaint
A
- Submit complaint to small claims court
- Get advice from a Third Party (CCPC, CAI)
- Write a Letter of Complaint to the shop
- Explain problem to manager. Mention your Rights and Law broken and ask for remedy (3R’s)
- Go back to shop with proof of purchase (receipt)
- Stop using the product

What are the functions of consumer agencies
A
- Informs consumers of their rights
- Promotes consumer welfare
- Lobby the government and other organisations on behalf of consumers
- Publishes Consumer Choice magazine, with reports on research findings around products and services of interest to consumer
- Some information is free but you need to take out membership with the CAI to get the full benefit
