Proposed by Edmund Randolph. We’d have the 3 branches. The legislative branch would have 2 houses and both would be awarded seats by population. This favored the bigger every states and not the little states
What was the New Jersey Plan?
Proposed by William Patterson. There would be 3 branches. There would be 1 house and seats would be awarded equally
What was the Great Compromise?
Proposed by Rodger Sherman. There would be 3 branches and 2 house in legislative. The upper house is called the Senate, where each state gets 2 senators and the lower house is called the House of Representatives based on population of states. It was approved on July 16, 1787
What was the 3/5 Compromise?
3/5 of slaves would be counted towards the population, but slaves were not given rights
What was a Federalist?
Someone who believed in the ratification of the constitution. They believed the constitution would create a national government strong enough to unite the states. Some famous ones were James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay and they created the Federalist papers which were a series of essays that supported the ratification of the Constitution
