Shays’ Rebellion
A captain in the Revolution turned Massachussets farmer that armed other farmers in an attempt to force the government to meet their demands. He lost his farm because the creditors from Boston imposed harsh taxes to make up for the debts the state had from the Revolutionary War. Their demands included paper money to drive off debts, tax relief, switching the capital from Boston, and abolition of debt imprisionment.

Anti-federalist, Revolutionary War figure, said “Give me liberty or give me death”. During PC, said, “I smell a rat” because he believed new Constitution would take away liberties and he wanted to keep the A of C.

Made by James Madison. Strong national gov, legislature by Congress, judicial by national courts, Executive by President. Congress becomes Senate and House of Rep, both decided by state population. President and Courts were the Council of Revision for all laws.

Made by Roger Sherman, also known as the Connecticut Plan. Two houses, Senate with equal representation and House of Rep with based on population representation.
The New Jersey Plan
Made by William Paterson on June 15, similar to Articles of Confederation, one house congress with equal representation, Congress could set taxes and regulate trade this time.

Founding Father.
The First Amendment
It protects freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Federalists
In support of the Constitution because it would create a federalist system that divides power between national and state gov, and that would help them protect their land because the majority were landowners. They won support by quoting the A of C’s flaws. Federalist papers defended the Constitution.
