- Society cannot be created, it arises organically
- Hierarchy - a small group leads the majority
- paternalism - strongest lead the weakest
- New Right thinkers place emphaisis on individual liberty but agree with traditionals that this is best achieved through hierarchal, traditional and religious culture

- Free-market capitalism requires an opitmistic approach so therefore disagrees with conservativism, They belive that a free-market economy promotes risk unless it is watched over by the state
