7 principles

A

Human nature - pessimistic
order - suspicious of new ideas that could disrupt order
Tradition and preservation - if it ain’t broke don’t fix it + stood the test of time
Organic society - there is some responsibility towards others
Pragmatism - flexible approach to politics eg change to conserve
Property - property helps maintain order
opposition to ideology

The new right - 2 stands

A

Emerged in the 1970s influenced Thatcher
neo-liberalism : free markets, excessive benefits creates a dependancy culture, high taxes are a disincentive and trade unions interfere
Neo-conservatism : strong state, socially conservative ideas, law and order is crucial and nationalistic
