A

P- A consequence of the development of the atomic bomb was a nuclear arms race that increased tensions between the superpowers.
E- As soon as Stalin became aware of the USA had the atomic bomb, he directed his scientists to develop the USSR’s own bomb. This was achieved in 1949. From this point on , both powers had nuclear weapons , and they therefore engaged in arms race in which each sought to develop more powerful nuclear arsenals that the other
E- This increased tensions because they were now in competition with each other , in fear that one or the other develops better nuclear weapons , giving them the upper hand and more power
