political parties ion the united states are decentralised with 50 republican parties and 50 democrat parties , this leads to significant variation and makes it difficult for presidents and central party leaders to control m similar can be seen in elections with
each state running their own elections and having their own rules , this is true including for presidential elections with the electoral college system
there are diffrent rules for whether prisoners can vote in diffrent states , in Maine and Vermont prisoners can vote , whilst in Virginia those convicted of a felony can’t even vote after leaving prison
