May suffer financially if they lose that persons income

Person who is in prison may have been working and providing money to the family

May need to spend a lot of time with the victim
Care for victim physically and mentally which can be stressful
If victim was died the family would suffer the loss

Ashamed or embarrassed by what their family member has done
May lose contact with family and friends and become isolated
