Government unable to provide educational and health services.
Lack of hospitals and poorly resources med facilities- result in spread of disease or increase in death rates- as more people continue to die from treatable diseases
Large amount of gov money needed to provide care and education for large no. of people eg age specific care- antenatal care
May result in other areas of population being neglected
Pressure put on rural areas to grow enough food
Land is intensively farmed- soil becomes infertile- crop yields reduced- leads to food shortages
People move to cities from rural areas in
search of work.
Lack of housing- shanty towns built- lack basic amenities such as toilets, running water- disease often prevalent
Outwards migration increases due to unemployment
Means loss of economically active people who are most able to work/ help develop country
Many developing countries have not yet industrialised- may not be enough jobs for
growing population
Result in increases levels of unemployment and often an increase in people being involved in the informal sector.
