A

  • Essentially the agreement of the patient to the treatment. Can be given orally or by signing a form

Informed aspect of consent

A

Patient should be fully informed about the treatment they are about to receive

Prudent professional standard: Dr decided what to tell and what not to tell patient
Prudent patient standard: Dr gives as much information as patient would like to know

(Risks, success rate, side effects, comparison to other treatment options)
