Connective Tissue Flashcards
2 Components of connective tissue
- cells
2. extracellular matrix
Types of cells
Fibroblasts - synthesis and maintenance of extracellular material
Adipocytes - storage of fat
Defense cells - fixed or wandering
Fixed defense cells
Macrophage (histiocytes)
Mast cells
Wandering defence cells
Neutrophils
Eosinophils
Basophils
Lymphocytes
Type I Collagen
bones, teeth, tendons, ligaments, capsules, supporting tissues, skin
Type II Collagen
hyaline cartilage (fibrils in ground substance)
Type III Collagen
Reticulin
framework of hematopoietic organs and BM of parenchymal cells, small blood vessels
Type IV Collagen
basement membrane
do not form fibrils - mesh like structure
Type VII Collagen
anchoring fibrils that link to BM
What is extracellular material made of
a) fibers - collagen or elastin
b) ground substance
