Thin layer of tissue covering inside of eyelids + Sclera

- Bac
- Viral

What are the general CF of Conjunctivitis? (4 things)
- Red eyes
- Bloodshot
- Itchy / gritty
- Discharge
Are the CF of Conjunctivitis Unilat / Bilat?
Can be either
What CF does Conjunctivitis NOT have? (3 things)
- Pain
- Photophobia
- Reduced visual acuity (apart from when eye covered in discharge)
What are the specific CF of Bac Conjunctivitis? (2 things)
- Purulent discharge
- Inflamed conjunctiva
When is Bac Conjunctivitis worse?
Worse in morning (eyes stuck together)
How does Bac Conjunctivitis start?
Starts in one eye –> spread to other
What are the specific CF of Viral Conjunctivitis? (5 things)
- Clear discharge
- Tender preauricular lymph nodes (in front of ears)
- Blocked nose
- Dry cough
- Sore throat

- Swelling of Conjunctival sac + Eye lid
- Very watery discharge
- Itch
What is the difference in discharge between the different types of Conjunctivitis?
- Bac: Purulent
- Viral: Clear
- Allergic: Very watery

Painful vs Painless Red Eye
What are the DDx of Painless Red Eye? (3 things)
- Conjunctivitis (obv)
- Episcleritis
- Subconjunctival Haemorrhage
