Coordinating conjunctions connect 2 clauses and do not affect word order.

He has no money and he can not understand the language.

Subordinating conjunctions connect 2 clauses and send the finite verb in the second clause to the end of the clause.
Ich kann nicht gut schlafen weil ich Angst habe.
I can not sleep well because I’m afraid.
