What do co-ordinating conjunctions do?
Join two seperate sentence of equal weight that COULD STAND ALONE and STILL MAKE SENSE.
What do subordinating conjunctions do?
Join main clause to a subordinate clause.
What else can be identified as ‘joining words’?
Relative pronouns.
What do relative pronouns do?
They replace nouns while also joining sentences.
Connect these two sentences using a relative pronoun:
The boy saw it first.
The boy has the best eyesight.
The boy WHO saw it first has the best eyesight.
Connect these two sentences using a relative pronoun:
The girl could not play in the match.
Her hockey stick had been stolen.
The girl WHOSE hockey stick has been stolen could not play in the match.
