Congruence And Similarity Flashcards
Vertical angle theorem
Vertical angles, angles that are opposite each other formed by two intersecting straight lines are congruent.
Definition of midpoint
Middle of a line segment, equidistant from both end points.
Triangle congruent postulates
SAS, ASA, ASA and an extra is AAS
HA theorem
If the hypotenuse and an acute angle of one right triangle are congruent to they hypotenuse and an acute angle of another right triangle, then they are congruent.
HL Theorem
If the hypotenuse and one leg of a right triangle are congruent to the hypotenuse and one leg of another right triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
Similar triangles
Congruent corresponding angles, and if that’s the case then the side lengths are proportional.
Triangle Similarity theorems
Angle angle similarity, side angle side similarity, side side side similarity.
Similar polygons
A similar polygon is when the shape is the exact same but there’s a difference in size.
