What did the Military reconstruction act 1867 achieve
Divided the south into five military districts and outlined how the new government would be designed. Under military observation, Freed slaves received the right to vote, hold office, and becoming judges and police chiefs
Why did A.Johnson clash with Congress
He vetoed all radical initiatives, Congress overrode him each time. This resulted in the impeachment of AJ in 1868. The senate failed to convict him by a single vote but his power was diminished

The name giving to the northerners who came south for political and economic reasons. Considered as corrupt people who used reconstruction to advance there own personal interests
