What is a strength of ISI?
A
- P: Strength = research support
- E: Lucas et al. made PPs solve easy and hard maths questions and then gave them answers from three other students

What is a limitation of NSI?
A
- P: Limitation = does not accurately predict conformity in every case
- E: Some people are more concerned with being liked by others and fitting in with them
- E: Mcghee and Teevan (1967) found nAffiliators - students who had a strong need for affiliation - more likely to conform
- L: NSI underlies conformity more for some than others - there are individual differences

- P: Strength = research support
- E: In Asch’s interviews - Some people conformed to the obvious wrong answer due to fear of dissapproval
- E: when PPs wrote down answers conformity fell from around 32% to 15%
- L: Shows some conformity is due to a desire to not be rejected from a group disagreeing with them
