    -Their previous ruler ( Kaisser= King ) was very militaristic. woodrow thought a democracy would avoid war

  • Thought Germany was relatively unaffected by war

A

He was in the middle between Wilson and Clemenceau , he didnt want the Treaty to be too harsh on Germany, wanted Germany to lose its navy and colonies. He was keen for British and Germany to start trading again

Why did David Lloyd George not want the treaty to be too harsh on Germany ?

A

Because he believes Germany Could be a potential threat to the British Empire. He was also worried they would plan revenge on Britain. David also wanted to trade with Germany as that meant jobs for people. However he faced pressure from British public as they wanted Germany to have a harsher punishment so David promised to make Germany pay.
