What is the definition of confidence?
The belief that you can successfully perform a desired behaviour (Weinberg & Gould, 2007)
What would be described as a confident athlete?
They believe in themselves and their ability to acquire the necessary skills and competencies, both physical and mental to reach their potential.
What would be described as a less confident player?
They doubt whether they are good enough or have what it takes to be successful.
How does Vealey 2011 describe self confidence?
A social cognitive construct that can be more trait-like or more state-like.
what is state confidence?
how you feel at a certain time and thus is unstable
what is trait confidence?
Is a part of your personality and is stable e.g. individual is confident in most situations

How would you explain the self-efficacy model by Bandura?
Our self-efficacy will effect the choice of activity, level of effort, persistence, goal selection, emotions, attributions
This will lead to the type of performance and our self-efficacy will be effected by previous performance, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion, emotional and physiological arousal
