3 common types of elicitation:
- collaborative: direct interaction with sh, relies on their experiences, expertise, and judgement
- research: systematically and discovering and studying info from materials or sources. Can include data analysis of historical data to identify trends or past results
- experiments: include observation studies, proofs of concept and prototypes
