1) Gloves
2) clean spigot
3) measurement container

pericare first (soap and water)
clean catheter tubing
prevent pull on catheter while cleaning
wash proximal 10cm of catheter(1/3)
What to ensure when taping?
enough slack
What equipment is needed for removing catheter?
blue pad, sterile syringe, gloves
Steps to removing catheter? (5)
1) Grab equipment
2) drain bag
3) remove tape
4) deflate buld with syringe, get fluid until tube goes in on itself
5) withdraw catheter and pinch tubing to prevent backflow of urine
