Hypothyroidism

Women presents with intolerance to the cold, loss of appetite, coarse sparse hair and heavy periods. On examination you notice xanthelasma and a puffy face. What is investigation would you like to run? most likely diagnosis?
Bloods for TSH and T3 levels

Women 30 years presents with weight loss, increased appetite and ammenorrhoea. You do bloods and find a low TSH and a high T3. What is the most likely diagnosis?
Hyperthyroidism
What are the treatment options for hyperthyroidism?
Carbimazole and propylthiouracil (to inhibit thyroid hormone production)
Propranolol to reduce sympathetic effects of thyroxine
Women of 25 years presents with palpitations, sweating, loss of libido, and tired during the day but with lots of energy at night. On examination you notice a tremor and goitre. What is the most likely diagnosis and treatment?
Hyperthyroidism- intolerance to heat, due to sympathetic action on heart get tachycardia
Carbimazole

Women presents with pituitary, parathyroid and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours. There is a family history of these tumours. What condition is this lady likely to have? Treatment?
MEN 1
3 Ps, screen for the MEN 1 gene. It is autosomal dominant making a mutated tumour suppressor gene
Surgical removal
What residue is most likely effected in MEN 2 ?
Cystine residue
What tumours are most likely to be contracted in MEN 2?
Medullarlu, parathyroid and paheochromocytoma
