conditions in the trenches were really bad as Soldiers were exposed to all kind of weather and enviroment.

- Many soldiers got trench foot as a result of
standing in flooded trenches which broke
the tissues of the feet. - Trench fever was caused by lice’s and
resulted in high fever and flu. - Dirty water led to diarrhoea

caused inflammation to the nose, throat, lungs and caused blindness
What was the effect of Chlorine gas?
This first ever deadly gas was known as the ‘Killing agent’ causing suffocation slowly.
What was the effect of Mustard gas?
This was the ‘Blistering agent’ causing blisters, burning and breathing difficulties and extended exposure could cause blindness and lung infection. It ate away the body from the inside.
