Change is not a single event, but a transitional process with multiple and varied events supporting the objective of moving an organization and its stakeholders from current to future state

Relationship to strategic planning
Strategic vision established a vision and its component activities determine the future state and ongoing org changes required to successfully operationalize and sustain it.
CM drives individual and collective adoption, thus ensuring achievement of expected benefits and return on investment
Types of org change
Types are infinite. Change definition must be based on analysis of variables, like technological complexity, number and type of impacted data, degree of change, workforce adjustments
Pm and Cm are complimentary yet distinct disciplines that may overlap during delivery. Often interdependent.
-degree of overlap and interdependency vary based on org structure, type of change, methods, competency, and capability maturity
Relationship to PM
Change is managed at individual and org level. CM facilitates the transition to sustain future state

Org change and individual change
Role: individual responsible for coordinating, applying, and tracking change management tools or activities. This individual is not responsible or accountable for the change strategy.
Change management practitioner
Role: group of individuals who facilitate change activities to design, analyze, develop, and enable the org to own and drive adoption. They ensure activities are completed, feedback is gathered, training is conducted, and communications are delivered.
Change management team
Role: individual accountable and responsible for the change strategy, assesses the change, outlines the plan, and implements CM. Direct day to day control over the Cm team, schedule. Resources, and budget. Primary liaison to change sponsor, PM, leadership, and stakeholders.
Change Management Lead
Role: individual or group in the org accountable for realization of benefits of a change. Defines and champions change goals, scope, and definition of success. Influences peers and senior leaders to gain support. This role has ultimate decision-making and funding authority
Sponsor
Role: functional or social leaders, middle management, and smes from different areas in the org who are trusted for their insight of the company. May be selected for network and influence over others. They model the required behaviors, provide feedback, and actively engage with others around change.
