What is the Data Protection Act 2018?
Gives rights to data subjects (people whose personal data is stores on computer systems)
What are the six principles of the Data Protection Act?
Data should be kept safe + secure
Data shouldn’t be kept longer than necessary
Data must be accurate + up to date
Data should be relevant + not excessive for specified use
Data must be used for a specific purpose
Data must be used in a lawful + transparent way
What does the Data Protection Act give the data subjects the right to do?
See, amend and delete personal data an organisation holds about them
What is the Copyrights and Patents Act 1988?
To protect intellectual property -> anything someone has created e.g. a novel, a song, a piece of software
Why has the Internet made it difficult to uphold the Copyrights, Designs and Patents Act?

What does the Computer-Misuse Act 1990 do?
To stop hacking and cyber crime
