composite Flashcards
what is composite made up of?
fillers and resin
Resin matrix is (BIS GMA)
Also (UDMA)
TEGDMA
what are the 6 types of composite?
Macrofilled – first generation. Large particles, made composite difficult to polish results in roughness. Strong but rough – not widely used now
Microfilled – smaller particles with larger total surface area. Not as strong but easier to polish. Not recommended for load bearing sites
Hybrid – a mixture of both that polishes well. Strong and easily polished
Nano – newer technology. Higher mechanical strength / wear resistance and polish well
Flowable: liner, margin sealer
Packable: alternative to Amalgam. Thought to reduce clinical steps on application but not as strong as amalgam.
