Why are countersunk screws designed ?
To allow the screw to flush with the surface.

What is riveting ?
Riveting is a method of making a permanent joint in metal.
What are the two types of rivets ?
Solid routes and Pop rivets.
What are solid rivets manufactured from and why ?
Solid rivets are manufactured from soft iron because they need to be ductile and easy to work as they have to be hammered into shape.
What are pop rivets manufactured from and why ?
Pop rivets are manufactured from aluminium and are fixed into place using a pop rivet gun.
Why are gears used ?
Change direction of rotary motion, change spindle speeds and transmit motion through 90*.
