Complex Patterns of Inheritance Flashcards
1
Q
What is incomplete dominance?
A
Both alleles are EQUALLY DOMINANT,
producing a NEW PHENOTYPE (intermediate
expression of a trait, looks like a BLEND) e.g. red + white flower = pink flower
2
Q
What is codominance?
A
Neither allele is more dominant than the other and both are expressed equally in a new phenotype. e.g. Roan horse with both black and white.
3
Q
What is autosomal inheritance?
A
The inheritance of
traits whose genes are found on the autosomes (1-22)
4
Q
Types of genetic tests for autosomal traits?
A
Karyotype
FISH (fluoroscence in situ hybridization)
Gene Testing
Biochemical Testing
