Arousal
The state of alertness and anticipation that prepares the body for action
Flow states
When you are performing in your ideal performance state, your arousal has created an optimal attention span, you feel absorbed in the activity and everything is flowing easily
Choking
When arousal levels are too high and causes the attention span to narrow too much. Here you will miss key information and performance will decrease
Cognitive arousal
Arousal of the might. High cognitive arousal is accompanied by negative thoughts, worrying and apprehension

physical arousal high physical arousal may be accompanied by shaking butterflies increased heart rate
anxiety
A negative emotional state that is either characterised by or associated with feelings of apprehension nervousness or worry
Trait anxiety
The characteristic that disposes people to be generally anxious (innate) It is a personality trait that is relatively stable and these people will be anxious in all situations
