FAPE
Free Appropriate Public Education
students with disabilities are entitled to the same type of educational experiences as their peer without disabilities.
According to FAPE, schools must

Between ages 2 and 21, each student with a disability must have

CSE is responsible for
- Making arrangements for the evaluation of a student has been referred.
- Determining on the basis of evaluation results whether the student is eligible for special education services.
- Developing and implementing an appropriate IEP
- Reviewing the IEP on an annual basis and modifying as needed.
- Developing a transitional plan.
prereferral
helps students who are struggling in the general education setting before referring them for special education assessment.
Response to Intervention (RTI) is used as
used as the prereferral process.
