A

Increased pressure in a closed anatomical space

Causes

A

Vascular: ischaemia or tissue reperfusion injury
Infection
Trauma fracture crush and burns
Physiological athletes

Presentation

A

Within 48 hours of injury usually
Increasing pain despite immobilisation sensory deficit
Muscle tenderness and swelling can get features of limb ischaemia later

Q

Management

A

MRI or measure infra compartmental pressure
Surgery fasciotomy. Remove all splints and bandages.
Complications include tissue necrosis and muscle necrosis usually in about 6 hours
