A

Must be followed by a noun or a pronoun
Ex - Like that of a snake(noun phrase), sting of a ..
W Ex - Amy sings like her mother does(clause)

No ambiguity - W Ex - Kim needs a tennis trainer like her brother
Ex - Kim needs a tennis trainer, liker her brother(comma makes it comparison with subject - Kim)

As in the last quarter, the company exceeded it’s revenue goals this quarter
Technically, “As it did in the last quarter”. “It did” is omitted. Use this technique to check if comparison is correct.

Comparison - Helping verb

A

Correct usage of helping verbs -

1. Verb tense must be same (else repeat the subject)
2. Helping verb must make sense when used with complete verb
