IMPROVISATION - SAMPLE ONE
PROCESS: research (helen kellers life, the miracle worker her journey to disability right etc)
MV: motif which involved tapping both palms together to replicate the individual palm language helen devised with her carer
OUTCOME: enabled me to develop a motif which would help me express the intention and meet the criteria
IMPROVISATION - SAMPLE TWO
PROCESS: brainstorming (three words for each section: isolation,exploration,advocation) chosen word isolation
MV: covering both eyes with hands to depict the loss in sight
OUTCOME: allowed to portray how Helen Keller was blind and became isolated from society due to her inability to communicate
IMPROVISATION - SAMPLE THREE
PROCESS: brainstorming - words which prompted gesture, I selected mute
MV: cover my mouth with left hand to extend right arm outwards
MV: covering mouth with both hands before collapsing backwards
OUTCOME: enabled me to meet the criteria as I expressed the intention through conveying her inability to talk/ communicate
REFINEMENT - SAMPLE ONE
PROCESS: video
REALISATION: direction was not used effectively to convey expressive intention. Originally lateral in development which did not communicate the isolation/barriers faced
OUTCOME: developed a floorpan to re establish the change in direction which would be travelling on a forwards diagonal direction
MV: development of motif down diagonal to show progression/exploration
REFINEMENT - SAMPLE TWO
PROCESS: video
REALISATION: clear use of level in development not used as originally it was large which did not truely portray the obstacles helen keller faced and overcame
OUTCOME: altered existing phrases to vegin on a lower level and progress to high level at the conclusion of the section
MV: collapsed over knees to progress to a standing position on both feet while extending my right hand
PRE PERFORMANCE
PROCESS: spatial orientation - focusing on dimension and direction
HOW: positioned myself in right upstage corner to ensure i used the entire space as I travelled down to communicate the journey of helen keller
WHY: then able to guarantee that when I perform my solo I will be able to orient my direction to move across the entire room to communicate the journey and ei of helen keller
PERFORMANCE
PERFORMANCE: technical accuracy
HOW: focusing on a falling movement which added to the portrayal of helen keller
HOW: collapsing right leg beneath me and he left leg extended. Ensured technical accuracy to use correct weight distribution while rocking backwards before entering the movement
WHY: by entering the movement safely i could ensure that the decreased chance of injury n order to successfully portray the struggles and barriers faced by Helen Keller
