Citizen participation
involvement in any organized activity in which unpaid individuals participate in order to achieve a common goal.
Grassroots activism
example of citizen participation which occurs when individuals define their own issues and press for social change.
Internal locus of control
those with a sense of personal power and a belief in the injustices of society.
External locus of control
individuals believe that other people or fate controls reinforcers
Networks
an interconnected, interactive social relationship among individuals or organizations in which reciprocity occurs.
Social capital
resources made available to individuals as the result of their placement within a social structure.
Consultant
someone who engages in collaborative problem solving with one or more persons, are often responsible for providing some form of assistance to another individual.
Information Dissemination
sharing of successful programs or beneficial information that has been used to address community problems with new populations.
Public Policy
designed to improve the life of the community through organizational goals, rules, and regulations.
